چکیده
Abstract This paper creates hydraulic binders using waste and a low energy input. Cements are produced with bauxite refining residue (red mud-RM), blended limestone lime, fused at temperatures from 600 to 1200 °C. The Saudi RM investigated has significant Al Si but Ca. Therefore, lime (CaO) (CaCO 3 ) used, as source of calcium, harvest cementing hydrates. When calcining alone, reactive aluminium phases begin form c.300 However, c.900 °C, they turn into crystalline corundum (Al 2 O ), more stable less phase. It is hoped that the Ca provided by lime/limestone will react in during fusion, silicates aluminates rather than inert corundum. Both types fusion calcium properties. required higher temperature. Limestone produces lower temperature due decomposition CaCO when compared CaO. High break down CaO (melting point = 2572 °C), whereas decomposes °C disappears 850 Despite top alkali being much melting point, results demonstrate was released entered reactions forming aluminates. probably high content acting flux lowering

A Mineralogical Assessment on Residues after Acidic Leaching of Bauxite Residue (Red Mud) for Titanium Recovery
Due to its alkalinity, red mud produced by the Bayer process may affect both the environment and human health. For this reason, its further utilization instead of disposal is of great importance. Numerous methods have already been studied for hydrometallurgical treatment of red mud, especially for the recovery of various metallic components such as iron, aluminum, titanium or rare earth element...
متن کاملUse of bauxite residue (red mud) as a low cost sorbent for sulfide removal in polluted water remediation.
Sulfide is an important pollutant in aqueous systems. Sulfide removal from polluted waters is required prior to discharge. Red mud (RM) is a solid waste of bauxite processing that is rich in reactive iron oxides and consequently has the potential to be used to remove sulfide from aqueous systems. A series of experiments was undertaken using raw and sintered RM to remove sulfide from waters. RM ...

We present new data about the chemical and structural characteristics of bauxite residue (BR) from Greek Al industry, using a combination of microscopic, analytical, and spectroscopic techniques. SEM-EDS indicated a homogeneous dominant "Al-Fe-Ca-Ti-Si-Na-Cr matrix", appearing at the microscale. The bulk chemical analyses showed considerable levels of Th (111 μg g(-1)), along with minor U (15 μ...
